Power Not Used Can Lead to Powerlessness

We all have the power to make our own lives happy but some choose to not use that power while others just willingly hand it over. You could say that about the way the government is treating all the people who pay their wages but that is not what this post is about.

There are ways to make sure we use our power rather than give our power over to anybody or anything else.

One of the ways is to not waste time on unproductive thoughts. How often have you spent an hour or a night thinking about a fantasy life where you don’t have to go back to work the following day, all that has really done is turned your eight hour day into a nine hour one or even longer!

With Lockdown, we have tended to spend a lot more of our brain power in areas of our lives that don’t deserve it.

I’m not sure if it’s just an Irish thing but saying something like ‘I had no choice but to say yes’ is probably the easiest way to lose your personal power. You always have a choice and the right choice may not always be the easy one.

It’s  bad enough not to use your own powers  but we then can hand that power over to somebody by valuing other peoples’ opinions too much. And with that comes powerlessness. If you call yourself a crowd pleaser then in all likelihood you have become powerless.

The way to get that power back is not to allow any one person’s opinion to rule your self worth.
